Trends in Bridal Shoes

This is going to be a great year for bridal shoes!

Brides are always looking for new ways to express themselves on their wedding day. Designer Bridal Shoes are a great way to show your personality and really make your wedding your own. Here are some bridal shoe trends that we expect to be hot for 2012!

Bridal Shoes Color

Gone are the days of wearing plain White or Ivory bridal shoes.  This year, colored bridal shoes are definitely in!

Carrie Bradshaw from "Sex and the City the movie" may have started the trend of wearing blue shoes with her wedding dress, but this idea has completely taken off! Something blue bridal shoes are a unique twist on the "something blue" tradition!  (Try the peep toe Winslet from the Benjamin Adams bridal footwear collection to steal Carrie's look!)

Dyeable Bridal Shoes

Want to match your bridesmaids? You are not alone! Many brides love the idea of dyeing their bridal shoes to match their bridesmaids’ shoes. If the girls are wearing purple, why not dye your bridal shoes purple to match? This will really tie your wedding colors together.

Or, maybe your future husband nixed the idea of a pink wedding but you can't live without a little bit of pink.  You can always dye your bridal shoes hot pink and add some fun to your outfit!

Bling Shoes for Brides

2012 is the year for bling! Rhinestones and crystals are everywhere this season so rhinestone bridal shoes and crystal bridal shoes are no exception. Whether you are looking for flat bridal shoes or stilettos, bridal wedges or pumps, a little bling on your bridal shoes will add the perfect amount of sparkle to your big day. Once the wedding is over, dye them black and wear them with your favorite little black dress! (We love the Benjamin Adams’ Swarovski crystal covered Charlize bridal shoes and the Astor sandal for tons of bling!)

Pleated Shoes

Last year, pleats were everywhere. Bridal gowns were showing pleating and the bridal shoe industry followed suit. This year, we are seeing even more pleated bridal shoes!  Pleating is the perfect way to add visual interest to an otherwise simple shoe. Designer Bridal shoes like the Touch Ups Abby, a low heel dyeable sandal or the Zeta,  a mid heel dyeable pump and the Colorful Creations flat dyeable pump, Zebra are perfect examples of this trend.

Bridal Wedges

Any bride getting married outside may want to consider a wedge as her bridal shoe. Bridal wedges are perfect for outdoor weddings because they will not sink into the grass like heels will. Bridal wedges are also extra sturdy for dancing and are also great for bridesmaids. Your friends will thank you when they can easily walk down a grassy aisle without tripping. Our favorite bridal wedges are the Touch Ups Honey, a low wedge dyeable pump with peek a boo toe and the Colorful Creations Pride, a high heeled dyeable sandal wedge.

Flat Bridal Shoes

Wearing bridal shoes that are so uncomfortable you can barely stand (never mind dance) is NOT a trend for the coming year.

Brides nowadays want to wear something beautiful, but comfortable. Last year, flat bridal shoes were extremely popular. This year, manufacturers have gone to great lengths to create bridal shoe flats with looks that are stunning and practical.

Bridal flats are wonderful for many reasons besides comfort. They are the perfect bridal shoe for a bride who is the same height as her groom. Bridal flats also work well for outdoor/beach weddings since they won't sink into grass or sand. Flat bridal shoes can also be used to change into for the reception. With bridal flats on you can dance the night away in total comfort! (Check out the flat dyeable pump Bubbles, or the flat dyeable sandal Heaven, both by Pink!)
